As we kick off a new year, we are thrilled to share some monumental milestones in the journey of Church Clarity. Since we first announced our relaunch and new Board of Directors, our team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to build a sustainable foundation for the future of church transparency.
Today, we have three major updates to share:
We are proud to announce that Church Clarity is now an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This status is more than just a tax designation, it represents our commitment to long-term institutional stability and transparency. As a result, we are now officially accepting donations. Your support will directly fund the costs required to host and maintain our database of churches.
For the first time since our pause, we have officially scored a new church! This marks the beginning of our "ramp-up" phase. While we are still building back our capacity, this first score represents the gears turning once again. We look forward to providing more of the verifiable information you need to make informed decisions.
To guide this new era, our Board of Directors has spent the last several months drafting and approving a new Mission, Vision, and Core Values. While our core belief—Clarity is Reasonable—remains our North Star, we felt it was time to be even more explicit about why we do this work and who we do it for.
Our Mission
Church Clarity exists to empower individuals with transparent, verifiable information about church policies so they can make informed, confident decisions that align with their spiritual journey and personal values.
Our Vision
We envision a world where every church is clear about what it believes and who it welcomes. In that world, people of all identities, especially those historically excluded, can pursue faith with confidence and dignity.
Defining Our Stance
As part of this process, the Board felt it was vital to clarify our stance as an organization. Church Clarity is not neutral. Our pursuit of transparency is rooted in our explicit stance as an affirming and egalitarian organization. We believe that transparency is a matter of justice and safety. We are committed to providing information that helps protect those who have been most harmed by institutional ambiguity.
Our Core Values
This is just the beginning of our "ramp-up." We are incredibly grateful for your patience and your continued belief that transparency is a matter of justice.
Stay tuned for more updates, more scores, and more ways to get involved as we move through the year.
